"When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around.
But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years." Mark Twain.
My passion for lifelong learning was inspired by my father John Celcus Walmsley, a man who believed continual learning to be as important as life itself. I try to follow this crede and hope others will follow. Knowledge to me has universal benefits. It helps us develop as adults, to strip away the poorly developed ideas of youth. It inspires us with clarity and endless opportunity. It can sooth our pain through understanding and acceptance.
This site provides learning resources on some of the most important knowledge areas not comprehensively taught in our education systems. This knowledge is essential to anyone seeking to participate fully in the natural environment, society, the economy, family, intimate relationships, and your own personal life. All you need is an internet connection, an iPod/MP3 player, time and the desire.
In part I'm acting as a content aggregator. Here I reinterpret, link to or reproduce content spread across the vast world wide web. The focus of this website is to enable readers to quickly get a sense of a topic and then follow the links to learn more. I also aim to provide a learning roadmap that will lead to a more fully developed life.
Learning topics include:
Social sciences. Antropology, economics, education, geography, history, law, linguistics, political science, psychology and sociology.
Humanities. Philosophy, religion, history, literature, rhetoric, grammar and fine arts.
Business. Entrepreneurship, business strategy, leadership, eBusiness, marketing, and people, operations, project management.
Personal. Body language, goal setting, health, fitness, marriage, cooking, D.I.Y., wine, travel and consumer survival.
There is no correct order. Try something and see you how you go. There is no such thing as 'bad learning'.
